Croeso Nol - Summer Term
Well, we couldn't have asked for better weather in our first week of the Summer Term. It has been a pleasure making use of our wonderful grounds and hearing so much learning and laughter going on both indoors and outside! Our Summer Term topic 'We can be heroes' has begun with enthusiasm and I know the staff and children are full of excitement about the term ahead. We look forward to continuing our partnership as we keep building the 'OUR SCHOOL' ethos of Waunarlwydd. We have exciting plans for whole-school community and class events, and we will get dates for the diary out to you as soon as possible. A couple of key dates we already know:
Friday 20th June - SPORTS DAY. This year we will be holding one Sports Day for all year groups and hoping it will be a great day for the whole school community. More details will follow, but now is the time to begin training for the much-anticipated parent races!
Friday 27th June - Alternative date for sports day should we be weather affected on 20th June.
Week beginning 30th June - World of work week. We are looking for volunteers to come and talk to the children about their jobs. If you would like to help, please get in touch!
Friday July 11th - Whole School Beach Trip.
I'm sure you'd all like to join us in congratulating Miss Fender on the birth of her beautiful baby girl! She is absolutely gorgeous, and we wish Miss Fender a wonderful and sleep-ful start to life as a mum!
Speaking of heroes, our very own Mrs Cornish has been proudly showing off her London Marathon medal. A magnificent effort to complete the course in extremely challenging conditions. Well done Mrs C!
It has been wonderful to welcome our newest nursery pupils to school this week. It has been great to see them all settling in so well with their new friends!
Parent Workshops
Attendance remains a major priority for the local authority and Welsh Government. Our whole school attendance stands at 91.9% for the academic year so far. While the Education Welfare Service has commented positively on the progress of many individuals, there remain concerns! Your continued support of attendance is crucial. Please make contact if you have any concerns.
Remember, this is 'OUR SCHOOL' and, as always, if you have any queries, concerns or ideas, don’t hesitate in making contact!
Have a great weekend!
Diolch pawb!
