Published 17/10/24It's been a wonderful week at Waunarlwydd Primary School with lots of learning and laughing together. We celebrated 'Shwmae Day' in style on Tuesday with the school being filled with Welsh colours, activities and songs. The day also saw the children thoroughly enjoy their 'Size of Wales' workshops. Gwaith Wych pawb! It was a pleasure yesterday to attend Year 6's assembly. I hope all the family members present enjoyed and were full of pride. The assembly was based around our value of the month 'KINDNESS' and the children reminded us of the importance we place on this at Waunarlwydd Primary and gave us 5 important rules to live by:
-
Be Open-Minded: Instead of deciding things about others before you know them, be curious and learn about them.
-
Be Kind: Treat everyone with kindness, no matter how they look or where they are from. We all deserve respect.
-
Stand Up: If you see someone being treated unfairly, be a friend and help them. We should all support each other.
-
Include Everyone: Include them in your games and activities. You might make new friends and have lots of fun together.
-
Learn Together: When we learn about different cultures and ways of life, we realise how amazing our world is.

Published 11/10/24It's been a crisp Autumn day to end the week at Waunarlwydd Primary School. The children thoroughly enjoyed their visits to St Barnabus Church, Parklands Church and Sketty Mosque on Monday. A big thanks for the welcome children and staff received. Parent and teacher meetings begin next week, giving you the opportunity to discuss how the children have settled into the new year and how we can work together to make sure the year ahead is the best it can be for the pupils. Hopefully, you have all been able to make an appointment. Also, just to remind you that those with parental consent will be getting their nasal flu vaccine on Thursday (17th Oct).
A reminder that on Tuesday (15th Oct) we will be celebrating all things Welsh on 'SHWMAE DAY'. Children and staff (and parents) are invited to wear Welsh colours or costumes ready for a great day.
A big thanks to the PTA for arranging today's pop-up shop and a reminder
that the 'Monsters Ball' will take place on Thursday 24th October. You can purchase tickets from the office, a PTA member or by sending cash in an envelope with your child.

Published 20/09/24Another great week at Waunarlwydd, learning in the sunshine. Weekly newsletters will be slightly slimmer this year with an overview of highlights and more detailed newsletter published half-termly. We hope the parents that could make it found the SeeSaw workshop helpful today. We'll be holding more as the term and year progresses. Next week's workshop will focus on 'Reading Eggs' and it's most effective use as a support for learners.
We've listened to feedback from parents in regard to notice of events and have endeavoured to plan ahead. All our currently planned events for the Autumn term are as follows. We will add any additions as early as possible:
